DigitalX-Rays
About Digital X-Rays
A modern practice, MINT dentistry in Shenandoah, TX is well equipped with the most modern technology for a complete diagnosis. This is why MINT dentistry performs digital x-rays, also called digital radiographs, during annual exams to obtain a clear, concise view of your mouth. Digital x-rays allow our team of board-certified dentists to diagnose abnormalities that are invisible to the naked eye so they can fully improve the health of your teeth, gums, and jawbone. Many conditions can be seen from digital x-rays, including decay, cavities, cysts, an abscess, bone loss, and impacted teeth. When a problem is found early, you tend to have more treatment options with a greater chance of success. During your annual exam at MINT dentistry, digital x-rays help our team to identify and create your best treatment plan.

Best Candidates
Usually, digital x-rays will be taken during your dental exam to assess your oral health. We may also take digital x-rays if you're in pain or dental issues of any kind to help our team properly diagnose and address the underlying condition. Digital x-rays use less radiation than traditional film x-rays, but MINT dentistry still prefers to minimize your exposure. Although they are typically safe for most patients, women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should inform a member of the MINT dentistry team at the beginning of their appointment so we can take extra precautions.
What to Expect
To start your appointment, you will settle into a comfortable exam chair. After choosing whether to watch a show or listen to music on a pair of Beats headphones, our team will begin your x-rays. Typically done at the beginning of your visit, x-rays usually take a few minutes to get a series. For most visits, your x-rays will include views of your teeth and gums. Once the digital x-rays are taken, they will be uploaded immediately, so you can see the x-rays during your appointment. If there are any abnormalities, your dentist will explain the area of concern and explain your options for treatment.
Treatment Aftercare
Digital x-rays will generally be done bi-annually as part of your dental examination. Occasionaly, we will recommend a whole mouth series to get a comprehensive view that includes your gums and jawbone. These images will be safely attached to your file at MINT dentistry, so our dental professionals can observe changes over time and chart any growing concerns. There is not any aftercare needed following x-rays except whatever dental instructions are given to you by the MINT dentistry team. Follow-up appointments may be needed if treatment is recommended. MINT dentistry always encourages great oral care at home as well as scheduling your bi-annual exams and cleanings to keep your teeth sexy.
The MINT Commitment
Generally, if you have dental insurance, it will cover your annual dental exam, including digital x-rays. Our office will speak to your provider to determine if you have any remaining costs. If you are paying out of pocket, MINT dentistry accepts several payment methods and we can help you find low-interest financing. We are committed to ensuring that you receive a comprehensive dental exam when you visit our facility. Our use of cutting-edge equipment, like digital x-rays, allows MINT dentistry to give you the best possible care.
